RE: WUWHS2012, September 2nd-6th, 2012, Yokohama, Japan

NOTICE: This is the announcement for the free papers/posters and please note that your own assignment and abstract submission will be informed early next year.

Thank you very much for your continuous kind support and cooperation as Captains and Planners of the Streams, in
regard to the WUWHS2012.  We are pleased to inform you that the planning
and organization for this meeting is proceeding smoothly and we are in
a good position with an excellent scientific program that includes
many symposia, panel sessions and special lectures involving many
distinguished international lecturers.

However, due to circumstances beyond the control of the congress
organizers, specifically the disasters of the earthquake and tsunami
and associated nuclear plant accident, along with the rise of the yen,
we are afraid that many overseas members may still be hesitating before
deciding to attend the WUWHS Congress, Sept. 2-6, 2012, in Yokohama.

Therefore we have extended the deadline for submission of Abstracts
from December, 20, 2011 to January, 17, 2012, and we strongly urge you
to encourage your colleagues to submit their papers and come to
Yokohama.

Recovery following the disasters is proceeding very well and
I am sure that all attending the meeting in the beautiful bayside city
of Yokohama will not only find a scientific meeting of great
importance but also have an enjoyable time with unsurpassed Japanese
hospitality.

We look forwards to seeing you in Yokohama.

Regional Groups Videoconference Report October 26th 2010

I am pleased to say that the very first WMAV Video-conference was a huge success!  I attended the Barwon (Geelong) region site and enjoyed the very interesting presentations delivered by Liz Leins and Dr Robert Kelly.  The presentations proved to be diverse in nature and equally as informative.  It was great to hear some excellent questions being asked by delegates which demonstrated the relevance of the topics.

Having never attended a regional meeting, it was a great opportunity to meet other wound care clinicians in the Barwon region and put faces to names.  I was very impressed by the organisational skills of two the leading members of the Barwon Regional Wound Group and I can only imagine the hard work that was put in by other regional wound group representatives across the state to ensure meetings ran smoothly.  So a big thank you goes out to all of those who took a lead role in organising the various sites.

Unfortunately people who attended the Warrnambool site had problems and were unable to link into the conference which is extremely disappointing for Terry Swanson and the other delegates.  All other sites, to my knowledge linked in successfully.  At one point during the presentations I had to remind myself that I wasn’t in Melbourne and didn’t have a big hike ahead of me to get home!  I sincerely look forward to the next WMAV Video-conference in 2011 (I hope!)
