WMAV Annual Member Survey

On Monday 21 March 2011, a questionnaire was mailed to every WMAV member. This survey represents the first of an ongoing annual evaluation of WMAV’s performance to support health professionals who work in the field of wound management.
The results of the survey are now available.

The WMAV Annual Member Survey represents one of three evaluations WMAV has developed and refined in 2010/2011. The other evaluation components include a New Member Survey and an Exit Survey for members not renewing their membership. Please read on for more details about WMAV's conduct of the survey with respect to confidentiality, data management etc, and for full details of WMAV's evaluation initiatives please read
WMAV member needs and satisfaction monitoring strategy V1_0.doc.

The WMAV Annual Member Survey was designed and implemented by the Wound Management Association of Victoria Inc. (WMAV) Committee of Management. It is an annual survey of members distributed to all individual’s registered on WMAV’s member database current at the time of distribution and as maintained by the WMAV secretariat.  The survey is confidential seeking no information that will identify respondents.

Questionnaires are returned to the WMAV secretariat and kept in secure, locked storage for a period of seven years from the date of last reporting/publication. After this time the hard copy tools are securely disposed of. Given the ongoing tracking nature of this survey, electronic database(s) will be stored for an indefinite period of time. Data will be entered into a database suitable for statistical analysis.

WMAV will source assistance with data entry, analysis and reporting as appropriate from suitably qualified individual(s) / groups(s).  This survey represents a quality improvement initiative. As such, consent from a registered Human Research Ethics Committee is not required nor sought. Nonetheless, WMAV will ensure individual(s)/group(s) involved in the management, analysis or reporting of this survey are familiar with NHMRC Australia Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2007) and The National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (NHMRC 2007b).

The return of a completed survey is deemed to represent consent to participate in the survey.

The database(s) will be accessible only to the WMAV Committee of Management and designated members who are involved in tasks associated with conducting, analysing or reporting the survey findings. Results will be analysed and presented by total and subgroup (such as type of membership, duration of membership) unless a small sample size amongst subgroups creates the potential for respondents to be identified. Summary information, but not original data, may be made available to Executive Team members of the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) if requested on the understanding that the provided materials are not shared to individuals outside the Executive Team and the provided materials are maintained as confidential by the Executive Team.

Feedback regarding survey outcomes will be reported annually to members via the WMAV newsletter. Additional publications and presentations will be pursued as deemed appropriate by the WMAV Committee of Management.

If you have any queries regarding this survey, please contact the WMAV president, Nikki Frescos.
